Who We Are
Rooted. was founded as the leading health-based organization led by Black women to increase healthcare representation in Iowa by improving access, education, and direct health services for diverse families.
We work to close the gap in health disparities by providing safe, affordable, cultural-based, patient-centered care across the Greater Des Moines and surrounding areas. Our objectives are to retain diverse providers and connect health services to communities in need. Our services are directed towards adolescent to adult women and their families.
We prioritize establishing midwifery care, doula services, lactation and mental health support, skill centers, support groups, and general wellness services.
A growing number of health issues are disproportionately affecting low- to moderate-income families and communities of color, especially the Black community. Rooted provides all-inclusive health and wellness services that are based on health equity and communal care.
Rooted. has collectively reached over 100 women, families, and providers nationwide.
Rooted. implements intervention and prevention strategies found to reduce maternal and infant mortality, reproductive health disparities, and overall decline in health and well-being.
